Re: new 2500-3000 reel

I have bought a Daiwa Exeler LT 2500. Haven't used it yet, but light, 9 kg drag. LT range is light and tough, slightly smaller than previous Daiwa 2500s. Lip of spool is modified so it more like the Shimano shape. Worth a look.

Re: Reel for wicked weasel

Thanks guys. I bought a Daiwa Phantom X rod and bought a new LT Series Exceler 2500. This only weighs 210 g, it is compact, and has the new Daiwa sizing, more like the Shimano size 2500. The spool lip has been tweaked which will help with casting. Should be a cracking outfit. Will give feedback when...

Reel for wicked weasel

I am thinking of getting a Daiwa Wicked Weasel to target larger bass, tailor and salmon. Any thoughts as to a suitable reel? Do you think a Certate 2013 2500 would be suitable, or too heavy?

Free Willy. been there with the sore back. Sometimes you have to push through regardless (and deal with more pain later!). Although sometimes the physio wins in the end.

Re: Using lure clips

Like some others I have developed a tremor with age, and this makes retying a lure difficult out in the dark kayak fishing for bass. (And no FG knots) I use a duolock snap, size 3. I used to use a smaller size, 2, but I find this size easier to use and doesn't seem to put fish off.

Re: Nice flatty release

At least the flattie was big enough to soften the pain of the broken rod.

Port Macquarie December

Hi folks
Am on hols in Port for a week in December, mostly targeting flathead at Camden Haven, kayak and wading, and also bass at Ellenborough from a small kayak.

Any recommendations, suggestions, strategy? Are there better locations?
Thanks, Clutch

Re: Big Tailor in Sept - Wallis Lake

Awesome fish / action. Do you do a straight fast wind on the stickbaits, as opposed to a walk the dog motion?
