Re: Crocs are cruisin'?

Hey mate, you have just proved the point with all your information, that you were trying to argue against, that those can be seen floating in the sea are NOT the most dangerous. Not at all. Ready what i said. Maybe i need to elaborate a bit more. My bad there. There is always a chance (although sli...

Re: Crocs are cruisin'?

The guy that was pulled from the canoe in the Herbet was an idiot. Had his wife in the canoe and paddled up real close so he could get a "good photo". he was pulled from the kayak in front of his wife's eyes. Happened about 10 years ago but should serve as a good reminder for those who "just want a...

Re: Crocs are cruisin'?

Anyone herd of crocs along the mangroves on the inland side of Maggie? I know they can get there but has anyone actually seen one? Yes they caught "Charlie" a 3.75mtr croc in the creek there. It died a week later from eating a plastic shopping bag. You are in croc country, be croc wise. Simple. e w...

Re: Crab Pots

I dont go into the estuarine systems anymore. That was near town. Where a 3.5mt and a 4mtr croc have been seen in that system. Although a while ago. But only last year a 4.5 mtr was caught on our main beach. So i avoid them now. Havent been able to take the yak out for a while. Sorting a new vehicle...

Re: Crab Pots

The hard part is getting them outa the pot to measure, one at a time, then tie em up. As there is no room for error, takes a bit at first, but you soon adapt.

Re: Smooth estuary for first timers?

My bit of advice to you as first time yakkers on your first outing is, 1 - wear a Lifejacket at all times whilst on the yak. No matter how good a swimmer you are. 2 -for your first outing i would find a local dam somewhere close and go for a good paddle and practise a deep water re-entry before i we...

What an idiot.
And quote from the news article - clad in trousers, merino jersey, coat and an uninflated lifejacket - fights for his life as waves surge over him.
Hmmm. Seems them self inflating PFD's work well. :gu:
