The high number of hobies involved in these incidents including the recent run in with the two guys at Urunga NSW and a huge great white make me think surely it’s those seal looking fins on the bottom of the boat that make the sharks think “ SEAL” and go on attack mode

This is the way I ended up fitting my transducer , forget the internal fitting , to quote the words that lead to this decision " Jamie , the transducers are designed to go in water " end of story really
