Re: Windamere trip in October

Wow haven't logged on for a while but looks like there will be a bit of turn out. I'll be there as well with one extra mate hopefully arriving Thursday evening. Be good to catch up with you Fletch. From all accounts the place is firing.

Re: Bass season around the corner

Looks like there is a few interested which is good. I'm going to be upfront in saying I'll be a bit last minute with any decisions on going fishing this year . But I would really like to be able to get out and see you all for a beer and a flick.

Re: Windamere trip in October

Yep sure am. The comp organised by Starlo I think the 'Classic' still hasn't set a date yet. Might be worth waiting to see what date that will be to avoid that weekend. The other AYC Comp is the 28 and 29th. Hopefully it's not fishing as tough as last year. But deffinately will be keen to head down ...

Re: Fraser Island

on the western side beach launches are the best...very little surf...and when it does blow up creek fishing is the only option in that vid i posted is a good example of what i am talking about...that opening/closing scene the water is mirror like and the josh launch scene shows how is when it blows...

Re: Fraser Island

the current rips in/out so if you plan a creek launch tides are critical...off the beach not so...just saying... Wish I was heading out there with some one who had done it before yes and no...wheres the fun in learning it for yourself...but yeah after numerous trips...we got this gig sorted... ask ...

Re: Fraser Island

One last question . I've noticed some reference to tides and I'm assuming it will be hard to get out on the run in and vice versa. What's the best times or what should I aim for coming in and out ? First few tides is the run out with the change around 10:00 and the run in. I'm thinking the last our ...

Re: Fraser Island

Been over a few times, my experience and advice would be if you are a confident driver get to platypus bay, we were there in november I think I caught about 30 spotties in an arvo, the birds will give them away. Bring plenty of 25g slugs, some small stickbaits and 3-5 inch plastics(opening night). ...

Re: Fraser Island

Re: Fraser Island

I fished off the cape on a jet ski late last year. Got my first marlin :) The launch off the cape would be ok on a kayak but the bar would be dangerous and its a long way out on a kayak. Ok at 35 knots. Not at 8 knots. Western side would be the go for you Thanks for the info. Welcome back!! ...

Re: Fraser Island

I am struggling to find the link but there is a ban on taking spanish mackeral from Platypus bay (Nth West Fraser) due to cigateura poisoning risk. Best to release any you catch over that side. Thanks. That's going to be important. I just found an old article that suggested the same and was wonderi...

Re: Fraser Island

Theres probably only one or two places you'll be able to launch the hobie and chase Macs. Either at waddy point or Ngkala Rocks. Both are surf launches but can be fairly protected compared to the main beach. Not a place I like fishing by myself either as it's ages from help and there is big bities,...
