Re: Caboolture River

Apologies for resurrecting such an old thread, but does anyone know of any good launch points on the freshwater side that is upstream of the pipe near the arboretum? I've found one on the opposite bank of the Waraba Creek weir, but it's a long slog from the car. The only other one I've found is way ...

Re: Want to buy first fishing yak $1000 budget

I just got my first yak a couple of months ago. It was last years model Assassin GT from Freak Sports in Acacia Ridge. Couldn't be happier with the thing. The new model now comes with railblaza mounts which I now wish I'd gotten. It's a great entry level yak, good on price ($600 and you get a paddle...

Re: Battery for sounders

I've been looking at making a battery pack using 18650 Li-Ion batteries myself. Safer than Li-Po cells and also rechargeable. You'll need a current protection circuit (cheap as) and do a bit of research but the cells are relatively cheap and long lasting. These cells are the same as used in laptop b...

Re: Another newbie from Brisvegas

Thanks mate, I'll give that a go. I had been looking at blades recently and I've heard the jacks seem to like gold - a bit like women really

Re: Another newbie from Brisvegas

Haha. Unfortunately no pool to do research in but I'm not giving up on the lures just yet. I just want this to keep my belly full of tasty bream and flathead for the moment until about August when I plan to start targeting those angry red devils in the estuarys. For me, I see mangrove jacks as a bet...

Re: kayak advice please!

Check this sucker out. This is the one I wish I bought a couple of weeks ago instead of their smaller unit.

Re: Another newbie from Brisvegas

The toad and the suspected bream were both on prawns. I've never even had a sniff of a fish with a lure before - not from lack of trying. I'm putting together a bait cocktail for bream consisting of chicken thigh cut into strips to resemble the size of a beach worm, marinating it in a combination of...

Re: Another newbie from Brisvegas

It's about 2.9m or so. Here's their product page if you want to check it out https://www.freaksports.com.au/shop/kayaks/assassin-gt-fishing-kayak/ Yeah, the pine offers some damn good variety as does pumicestone passage. What I really need to do is start getting some bites. My last venture out was o...

Re: Another newbie from Brisvegas

So far I've been out on the pine river mouth, burpengary creek and kedron brook floodway. Once I get a sounder I want to head down to the islands in southern moreton bay and some of the townships along the great sandy strait

Another newbie from Brisvegas

Hi everyone! The fishing bug bit me in a big way a couple of years ago and I recently splashed out and bought an assassin gt from freak sports. I'm absolutely loving this this thing and being able to get to those places you can't quite reach from the shore. Having said all that, after 3 trips out, t...
