Re: Down rigger location

Tested the setup today worked very well using the downrigger mounted in front of the hatch and the rod in the rear holder. I could see the depth of the rigger on my sounder. I need to use at least a size 20 sinker the 12 dragged to much to the rear.

Re: Down rigger location

if your just after 3 to 5 m a parvane will get you that. those white yamashita ones go the best. you can have one on a pre determined length of line (eliminating the extra rod and reel to carry) clipped to the yak and throw it over the side with a downrigger line clip on the back to release your fi...

Re: Down rigger location

On my Profisha 525 I have mine mounted in the right hand rod holder just behind the seat. The downrigging rod goes in the right rear rod holder. It is easy to reach behind and wind up the bomb. My down rigger is a converted Alvey that has a drag control and anti reverse. It can be operated with one...

Re: Down rigger location

After fishing SWR with Grant I was interested in trying 3+ metres down. It will be a trial.

Down rigger location

I have made use of an old alvey reel and rod and turned it into a down rigger with 80lb coloured braid. Now that I'm fishing out of a Supalite yak I'm uncertain on the best place to mount it. I thought in front of the paddle stroke however I am not convinced that this will be ideal. I'm now thinking...

By boat yes never by yak. Under the light house is the best starting point.

Stealth kayak (wanted)

I am currently fishing out of a Supalite X and would like to upgrade to a Stealth profisha 475. If anyone is interested with the intention of upgrading size or to a livie setup I am in Vic hit me up.

Want a small yak for quick sessions

I have been researching different yaks and still might go a hybrid sup like the versaboard from native. I also like the spec on both Malibu's mini X and stealth 9. Mainly fishing estuary creeks and ppb in close for species like bream, squid and flatties. Most days I have small windows to fish so wou...
