Re: My First Yak advice

Nice! That will paddle well as others have said. Well kitted out. Love the trolley. Great idea for longer walks to the ramp

Re: 7 in screens

Sure does, the maps they use are DNA from their aviation which is unbeatable.... it also has quickdraw which give you extra detail in the mapping to 1ft contours, which is a crazy amount of detail. Similar to Lowrance insight genesis but you don't send your information away to get loaded the Garmin...

Re: 7 in screens

Lowrance Elite TI 7 with sidescan. On a hobie outback. Love it but easy to get distracted looking at the pretty pictures.

The 4" was nice, the 7" is good... maybe the 10 next time ;) it eats batteries though on full brightness.

Re: NMEA to WiFi Bridge

Love new gadgets.... expecially something thats lets me upload sonar logs to improve maps for others. If more of us do it it makes for more fishing spots when visiting new areas. Not everyone has a lowrance with access to gofree maps so improving the navionics charts for those who use the phone app ...

Too true. What a ripper of an idea. The various watersport forums (yaks, jet skis, surfing etc) would have been a cheap way to generate interest and sales... Shame...

Re: Garmin striker 7 sv

Checked it out on Thursday. The unit is swish. It lacks a proper base map like navionics and isnt touch screen. Nice to use and well made though it seems. I opted for the Lowrance Elite TI 7 as it was only 200 more BUT if mapping is no deal breaker then the Garmin is awesome. Berleypro also do a ada...

Up to 5 years old I've heard stories of upgrade to any of the latest for half price including much better models. Its worth a phone call or an email.

Re: All Day GoPro Battery

I use one of these (differant brand)... http://www.goldstaronboard.com/gopro-waterproof-usb-battery-eliminator-for-hero-4-3.html Gopro battery eliminator with a seperate usb power bank. Runs for about 12 hours non stop. Better still, doesn't have a battery in the housing so no heat. No heat means no...
