Trolling motor on 12' tinnie

I'm looking at setting up a 12 tinnie with a watersnake 55 or 65lb thrust,anyone know how to calculate the right battery to try and get 3 hour run time.
As i have no idea where to start on this one.

Just interested to here which one you prefer,in using a rod retractable lanyard or some foam wrapped around the rod for floatation and why you chose that system

I would go penn spin fisher v. Tough as nails but probably doesn't feel as smooth as the more $$$$ ones. The KK 4000 arrived today,very surprised how solid the reel is with virtually no play in handle and rotor.Seems like a good reel for kayaking at $78 delivered

One time while night beach fishing my Penn 8500ssm had fallen over in the surf,would have been in the water for 5 mins.I opened it up the next morning to find it dry inside.Water doesn't get into a reel that quick. As for the Kastking which as far as i know has always been advertised as water resist...

thanks for all the help guys really appreciate it one last thing if i was to make a waterproof box for the battery am i suppose to put anything in between the box and the battery cheers john I put polystyrene blocks around and ontop,if there is a flip over or swaying on the open sea the battery can...

Couple questions..was thinking in fitting a inline fuse in case of a flip over,as the wires go under water the fuse cuts out the power.
The clamps that come on the 24lb are they ok for connection or should they be modified for something else
