Re: Ebay braid line

I recently bought some Sea Lion braid off eBay (Melbourne seller) to try. While I am generally happy with the quality of the braid the diameters stated are waaay off. The 30# 0.22 mm braid measure 0.30 mm while the 20# 0.15 mm measure 0.25 mm. The colour and feel between the 2 braids also vary signi...

Re: At last - Tuna season arrived

Mainly use them for bait, never tried to eat them as I've read they're not the best eating.

Tally for the week was 5 Longtails, 3 Mack Tuna, 1 School Mackerel and a Remora. They seem to have moved a bit further offshore now, too far for me to reach with my kayak.

At last - Tuna season arrived

After months of wind blowing and it being to rough to get out on the ocean the weather finally came good. When I saw the weather looked fine on Tuesday night I loaded the kayak as I wasn't going to wait 'till the weekend, when the weather always seems to turn bad. Yesterday morning at first light I ...

Re: Monster catfish - Bundy

I'll need more than a few beers to lay into catfish, maybe a couple bottles of Bundy rum should make them palatable..

Monster catfish - Bundy

Fished one of the local dams this weekend, chasing some bass, and caught a monster catfish. I have caught many big catfish before but this is a new PB for me. Fishing with 8lb mono it was a battle to get it in before it buries itself in the weed. Just for interest sake does anybody know how big thes...

Bundaberg - A Barra-tastic morning

At the start of last week the weather forecast wasn't looking too good with predicted strong winds and heavy rainfall in the Bundaberg area due to Ex-TC Owen. As the weekend got closer the forecast started to change and it looked as if fishing may be an option for Saturday morning. Friday night the ...

Hot Bass bite, Bundaberg

With the wind forecast not the best to go onto the ocean I decided to try one of my favourite freshwater spots chasing bass this morning. Got on the water at first light, still half asleep after a late night, with high expectations to get some bass on the surface. While conditions were perfect I cou...

Re: Permit-ion to be surprised. What a Cracker! with video

Great catch, particularly on a 3 - 6kg rod. Had that feeling of being 'under-gunned' on the ocean a few time myself and now generally use 6 - 10 kg rods when going on the ocean. You never know what you're going to hook when fishing the ocean, and that memory of the big one that got away never seems ...

Warmer weather = Hotter fishing

As the weather starts to warm up in the Bundaberg area so it seems does the fishing. Went out last Saturday morning for a paddle on a local creek and got some nice Mangrove Jack, Flathead and Queenfish. Missed out on a photo of the Queenie, which would have been close to the 90 cm mark, when the GoP...

Amazing fish that Fringe Eyed Flathead. Looks like an alien to me... Never seen one before. Those eyes are crazy, looks like something growing over it.

Re: A Beautiful day, A few fish - Life's Good

All fish caught on lure.
I wouldn't call Grunter a 'sport fish' but still put up a good fight on light gear. Never tried to eat them, mostly catch & release for me, apart from when I get a nice mackeral on the ocean :gu:

A Beautiful day, A few fish - Life's Good

The weather forecast was good, as it usually is this time of year, so got up early to try my luck at one of the local creeks. After a slow and chilly start, not that it ever get cold in Bundaberg, got onto a few nice fish. Had a few blistering runs but as always the 'BIG' one got away... Another per...

Winter Bass

Went for a couple of hours fishing over the weekend chasing some winter bass. Beautiful afternoon and almost had the lake for myself, if it wasn't for a lone boat who spoiled it. Plenty of fish on the sounder, mostly schooled up in the deeper parts of the lake. Got 5 for the afternoon, all of them i...
