Fly rod Questions

I would love some advice please. I put up a post last night but deleted it this morning as I thought I was asking too many questions. Today this is what was on my mind at work.. For a Kayak Fly rod it would seem that a shorter one would make it easier to land fish, but in a sitting position a longer...

Re: OzCrow's Hobie Mods

Well done on the Wheel set up there OzCrow !!! I have thought about getting the Boonedox wheel system but it is too pricey but this is the next best thing. You wouldn't happen to be interested in making one for a Hobie outback would you ? Payment + postage of course ? Next best thing? price or desi...

Re: OzCrow's Hobie Mods

That's a nice yak and outfit you have OzCrow. Wheel set up looks a treat and super quick and easy to use. Just suggestions to make your rig more user friendly. Lip grippers. You would want to bending around trying to reach them with a fish hooked, unless they just sit there for storage. You need th...

Re: OzCrow's Hobie Mods

I went out today to Lake Burley Griffin for a test run. The wheels are so easy to manage both on and off the roof racks I doubt i'll ever remove them from the Kayak. A fly fishing club were having some casting lessons. on the bank where I returned to. They watched as I shored, stepped off, lowered t...

Re: OzCrow's Hobie Mods

Nice One!! I like your CTug fold down wheels!! Hmmm, if you use the Inflatable ones - they'd also work as a 'stabiliser/pontoon' in rougher water too! How do they 'lock down'? If using the inflatable ones as stabilisers, they'd have to 'lock' at below 90 degrees angle. cheers Roberta The pic...

Re: OzCrow's Hobie Mods

Lucky that I found a Woolies home delivery crate that is exactly the right size to mount in the cargo space on my Hobie. The shock cord clips into the crate... then I un hook it over the PVC tubing to lock my rods and nets etc. Pics say it all. Just the right size to not slide around. [URL=http://s1...

Re: OzCrow's Hobie Mods

My next mod was to improve the drink holder that is moulded into the right hand side of the Kayak. It is way too big. An off cut of 100mm ag line is exactly they right size for a can of coke. It fits snug enough to not be loose at all. It happens to be also a perfect fit for a TomCat LED lantern to ...

Re: OzCrow's Hobie Mods

This is my final finish for my wheel cart. All the tubing that comes in contact with the hull from underneath and through the scupper holes is sleeved in nylon. It takes 1 minute to remove in total and weighs 2.2kg with wheels and all pins. Installation and deployment to rolling transport takes 2 mi...

Re: OzCrow's Hobie Mods

I intend to use the mount the wheels in the last photo position to accommodate roof rack mounting without removal.
In this position other inflatable wheels will assist in on-water stability.
Of course it will all be removable entirely by 2 bolts

Self deploying wheels for my REVO 13

I have made a easy deploying Revo13 carrier that will swing up and down to make life easy for me. The tube is stainless 25mm round and is a nice size to axle the wheels from the C-tug carrier. Its not quite finished yet but I thought I'd put my pics anyway. The main idea is light and easy to use wit...
