Re: fiber glass repair photo heavy tutorial

Followed your tip re the 'two sheets of grease-proof paper' to shape fibreglass and it worked a treat! Came out really smooth (so no excess sanding), no mess, and I made an 'L' shaped bracket to mount a bilge pump in my mate's boat. Thanks!!

Re: Ebay braid line

Don't agree - I have been using an ebay brand called POWER Braid Thin PE 8 Strand 30lb (1000m spool) for the past few years and it has been amazing. Biggest fish it caught was a Black Cod from the boat out the front here that we estimated at 40kg+. Has been used on kings, spannos, longtails, wobbygo...

Re: 2hrs & 16min battle with a Longtail!!

Great vid! I have the same ski (Fisha 460) - Did you ever feel tippy during the fight, or even when trying to lift it in onto your lap? When I got my 14.5kg Spanno a year ago I was rocking all over the shop trying to stay upright!

Garmin Striker Plus 5CV - Combo Screen question

I have a question re customising the various combo screens available with this unit. Basically, are you able to have a split screen showing just Map + Trad on the home page? The unit allows a combo screen of Map+Trad+ClearVu on the home page but I can't seem to work out how to customise it to only s...

Re: Woody Head Longtail Video!!

Reminiscent of when I caught my three at Coffs late March. Found there was no need to gaff them as they come to the ski basically dead and you can just lift them in.

Re: Coff's Longtail Session!

I shared them with the street here. Nothing but positive feedback how nice they were on the plate. One guy smoked a fillet and it came out very nice. I pressure cooked one of them and scored a large helping of 'canned tuna' to dine on _ the tuna fish cakes last nite were spot on. Tonite we have tuna...

Coff's Longtail Session!

Never caught a Longtail until today - and I got 3 of them trolling a silver/red hardbody! Could have caught more but they tend to fill up the hatch and make the ski somewhat slower to paddle. A squadron of fighter jets flew directly low overhead while fighting the last of the fish and I hope they ha...

Re: garmin striker plus 4

I bought the Garmin Striker 4 some time back. Has dual gps/sounder options but the screen is way too narrow to really enjoy this feature - easier to use a separate GPS than being fancy with both features on at once. Biggest negative though was that after a few times of usage, water somehow got into ...

Unusual catch off Coffs (non yak)

Had to show this fish that we caught in the boat caught yesterday out from Sandy Beach. Its a Blue Drummer , and I think common to Lord Howe Island so it was weird getting one so close to home. We did release it as the bag limit says '0' and fisheries patrol this area like hawks. I'd be interested t...

Re: Sharks

I was involved in that Dec 28, 2008 GWS incident off Long Reef in Sydney when a group of us were hounded by a huge GWS and my mate next to me was tipped off his Hobie as the shark passed beneath him. You feel pretty helpless in that situation and it was fortunate a few guys in a tinny saw Steve in t...

Re: Braid options

Best to buy your braid online as you will save a fortune over what the tackle shops charge, esp on the 500m - 1000m spools. The 8 strand stuff is really thin for its b/s and you can get a shitload on a decent eggbeater reel like a Penn Spinfisher SSV6500 (classic reel!). Best to backup the braid wit...
