Re: Passing under a Jetty or Pier - where has out manners go

I regularly paddle under that jetty and as GBC has said in holidays there wouldn't be more than a metre between fisherfolk on the jetty but I have never been caught up in any lines or annoyed any fishos. From about 20 metres away you can usually pick the best spot to paddle under without fouling lin...

Re: Another 20+kilometre paddle

Top effort there Paul, once you start paddling it just seems to all come together and becomes really enjoyable doesn't it ! Must be something to do with the age group as I am of the same vintage and regularly paddle 10-15 kays for enjoyment. I don't take a rod with me on my paddles, just enjoy the s...

Re: Baitcasting rod - 1-3 kg

I tried for about two years to find just what you are looking for, an ultralight baitcaster. I copped the usual tackle talk sales pitch of no-one uses baitcasters that light and just buy a spin outfit. I had a couple of rods custom made that just didn't feel right or were too heavy. I walked into a ...

Re: Barramundi Destinations in Queensland

Have you had a look at the Queensland Bass and Barra Trail. It lists all the dams and their facilities as well as the fish that are stocked in the Dams.

Re: Storing Reel surf launches

I think there was a bloke on the Sunny Coast making waterproof bags for rod and reels just like you are looking for.
I remember reading about them about 12 months ago so someone in the offshore crew may be able to put you in touch with him.

Re: Fraser 2016 video by yaqdoq

Thanks for taking the time and effort to post up such an excellent report. Living over the other side of the Island we sort of take for granted how special it is over there. The big sandblow that you climbed is rumored to have been a shell blast from a naval ship during the war sometime. Thanks agai...

Re: A trip to forget to Lenthalls

Quite an eventful trip Wayne , apart from the lack of fish. Hope your wallet turns up. We are heading for level 3 water restrictions up here due to the lack of inflow into lenthalls but it is not just the dam that is suffering. Squiddly Diddly (Danny) and myself have hardly had a productive Bass tri...

Re: Rock Gardening for the uninitiated

Great clip Paul, Not a lot of Glass to be seen there though ! Just goes to show how the tough plastic kayak can add a level of fun to close in paddling. The Mirage Freeride was inspired by the rock gardening fraternity around Sydney Harbour although I'm not sure I would like to take mine in that clo...

Gday Alan, there are a couple of Kayak retailers in the Bay: Torque computers sells the Eco range on Torquay Rd opposite Fishermans corner and Richard the owner is also a keen fisho. Coastline Caravans sell the Bundaberg made Koastal Kayaks on Old Maryborough rd Ken Sinn used cars in Elizabeth st Ur...

Re: First trip on the revo13 questions

To help with the rudder problem wiggle the steering knob thingy left and right while pulling on the up handle.
The movement will help overcome the water resistance especially if you have the sailing rudder.

Re: Olympus Tough TG-3

I have had the TG1 for a couple of years now and can't fault it. Yeah there are heaps of options for shooting but mine stays on auto most of the time and hangs around my neck ready to use . I have found it great for one handed shots, good thumb grip on back and easy to use shutter button and excelle...
