I originally made myself a makeshift anchor trolley system just to "do the job" while I learnt what I really needed..
Nearly everyone has an anchor trolley system which mostly all do the same job, but all having some sort of "little variation" ... so as a newbie its quite confusing which is the best way to go. I knew I shouldn't rush out and just put something on and end up with holes where I didn't want them, so I Googled, YouTubed, spoke to, and watched kayakers to learn what was the safest and best way to go.
My "little variation" ended up stopping the tap tap tapping of the rigging ring by not cutting off the excess rope and using it to wrap around the ring to dampen any noise. I also learnt to tie a Halyard Hitch in the process (woo hoo). http://www.animatedknots.com/halyard
So, advice to all newbies out there (like me) ... don't rush into anything you will later regret, ask advice from seasoned users and your time on the water will be safe and thoroughly enjoyable.
