Transducer mount on Seak Swift

Postby csmithett » Mon Oct 09, 2017 9:27 pm

G’day All,
After much trolling through the forums I lashed out and bought a sounder for my cheapie kayak. I transport it up on the roof of the fourbie, held down with ratchet straps so I was a bit worried about the glue letting go.

I had some aluminium flat bar in the garage (it’s amazing the stuff I keep) so I fabricated an external removable mount.

I firstly mounted a shaped bracket to the inside of the hull using marine grade stainless bolts and sealing it with selleys all clear. This means when I remove the outer bracket I’m just left with two blots protruding

After much shaping and blacksmithing I fashioned the outer bracket as well. The outer bracket mounts onto the protruding bolts with wing nuts.

I’ll have to install a second hatch as the battery box can’t fit in the front hatch. The battery box itself may need some work yet...

With the sounder unit mounted it looks something like this
