First Test Sail with Pacific Action Prowler Sail

Used my sail for the first time last weekend and have to say I am impressed. Rigged it up in no time at all(and it was still dark!!!!)






reason I took the sail on this occasion was that we were going to be paddling for 15 miles---not me!!!!!!!!!




when the wind is right on your back you can get good speed up ,it's still effective if it's slightly off.Can't wait to try it with a bigger wind!certainly a handy piece of kit

up to a certain degree yes--you just adjust the angle a bit with the ropes,but it works best with the wind directly behind you

I see there is no rudder on it , how does it go without it. Do you have trouble keeping a straight track.

Hi Richi, I have a sail on My OK Elite as well. Man, does it scream along. It's a 'Spirit Sail', without the rigging wire, and in a 20knot + wind it is the best fun.

no trouble--either adjust the sail or stick the paddle in a bit if you're going off track

Mase awsome setup Thats the type of sail i want to get for my Elite i was going to get one for my sea kayak when i had one but didnt get around to it. Are they hard to adapt to the prowlers ?

Hi Folks.

Have'nt posted on the forum for a long spell now. Good to read up on what's been happening.

Thought I might direct you to an article that was written about a trip I did with a mate out to the coral cays off Gladstone in Qld a few years back. (Capricorn Group 72 k's out). We were paddling OK Scuppers rigged with the 1sqm PA sails. The article is published in the Autumn 2008 edition of an online paddling magazine at the following link.

The cover photo of the magazine shows the PA sails working in 20+ knots SE tradewinds on one of our crossing between coral cays. I use this PA sail on a number of craft depending on the kayak I'm using and the trip undertaken.

There's another story of mine in the same online magazine (summer 2007 edition), paddling a Feathercraft folding sit-on-top around the Yasawa Islands in Fiji for 5 weeks in 2005 . This was an awesome trip and the sail had my double kayak hooting along in the tradewinds even though it was loaded to the max with 5 weeks worth of supplies.

Hopefully you will enjoy the photo's and articles. While not totally about fishing, on every trip, I run lures and generally fetch a feed along the way
(eg tailor, trevally, bonito etc).
