TUTORIAL - Inserting Images Into Your Post..

Postby YakTTMax » Wed Aug 01, 2012 6:07 pm

Having regularly spotted requests from members wanting help with uploading pictures into their post I decided to put this tutorial together.
I've tried to keep it as simple as possible and I hope it helps those needing assistance.

STEP 1..
After you have written your report, look for this at the bottom left of your screen.
Click on UPLOAD ATTACHMENT.
Step1_Upload Attachment.jpg

STEP 2..
Now click on BROWSE
Step2_Browse.jpg

STEP 3..
Your directory should appear, locate your picture and click on OPEN
Step3_FindPicture.jpg

STEP 4..
Now you can add a caption to your picture by typing in the FILE COMMENT window.
When complete click ADD THE FILE.
Simply repeat the process to add more pictures. For this example I am using 2 pictures.
Step4_AddCommentAddFile.jpg

STEP 5..
You should now be able to see your report with the 2 image files underneath it ready to be inserted.
Step5_ReadyToInsertPictures.jpg

STEP 6..
Create a line break in your post at the end of a sentence at the point you wish to place your first picture. Put the cursor at the beginning of the line break and press PLACE INLINE located under your first image.
Step6_PlaceImage1.jpg

STEP 7..
Repeat the process to add more pictures in the position you want them to appear.
Line break, place cursor then press PLACE INLINE, this time located under the second image.
Step7_PlaceImage2.jpg

STEP 8..
Now the image attachments are placed in position relative to the report.
Step8_FilesInsertedInReport.jpg

STEP 9..
Scroll down and click PREVIEW.
You should now see a preview of your post with the pictures inserted.
If you're not happy simply remove the attachment info from the post and insert it again in the desired location.
Step9_Preview.jpg

STEP 10..
When you're happy with your report click on SUBMIT.
Step10_Submit.jpg

Congratulations your report is complete with pictures placed in the right spots.

NOTES..
You can always edit your report even after you've submitted it so don't panic.
Images should be no more than 800 pixels wide for horizontal format.
Images should be no more than 600 pixels deep for vertical format.
At the moment I think a limit of 10 images per post is permitted, you will see an alert when you have reached your pictures per post limit though. If you want to add more images you simply REPLY to your own post and add some more.

Hope this tutorial helps.
All the best, Rob..:bye:

Good on ya Rob. It makes a 100% difference when an angler can put a picture to the story. I'm a visual person I like to see it, so awesome work there on helping people improve the quality of TR's.

Cheers

Awesome job Rob.

Just wish I had found this before I muddled threw with my post.

I just have one question though.

If you do your post in test do you get a choice of the section it goes to or do they all just go under new posts?

If there is a choice where about is it , I meant for my post to go in freshwater and it turned up in new posts, which is not a drama just wondering.

G'day Yaktime, I'm glad the tutorial helped.
I just had a look at your post 'Fernvale Take Two', great report by the way.
It is in the 'Test' section.
Don't worry I'm sure a moderator will spot it in the 'test' section and move it to 'Freshwater Reports' soon.
Now that you've got your trip reports sussed out, next time simply start a 'New Topic' in the section you want it to appear in.
All the best, Rob..:bye:

P.S. Any new topic or topic reply in any section will appear under the 'New Post' tab for a period of time, usually if it is a new post during your current session on the site.

Is there some current problem uploading images (like the photo hosting disabled)?

"Could not upload attachment to ./files/31382_94cb092987d7a8dd50bb3229126aead9." is all I'm getting when I try to upload images for a trip report. I've tried a few different images, the're all JPEG's and resized to below 800 pixels wide (landscape). File sizes are less than 200 KB.
