465 or BFS

#1 Post by Vanz » Sun Mar 16, 2014 2:54 pm

Hey all, as a few of you may know by now I have been hitting the water with my budget friendly eBay special and loving it, but financially the time is getting close to being able to upgrade to a second hand bigger badder yak, so here is my dilemma, I am currently debating between a 465 and a BFS, both pretty much at the same cost,

I currently hit the lake in Newcastle at the moment with only a couple of offshore trips under my belt but my main focus would be for the new yak to hit more offshore and longer paddles you know trolling etc, I would be using it for majority beach launches with the occasionally paddle out through the heads and additionally just in the lake every know and then, my Height is 195cm and 107kg I do have bing knees not that it's an issue for stealths just in case people jump on a say grab a hobie the short answer is physically I can't use then so nope,

So basically my question for all you experienced guys and girls is for the points above would you reccomend 465 or BFS, I have shot DennisT a PM just waiting for his reply.

Cheers all.

Buy the evo, or if you can afford the extra buy a profisha

Was talking to Dan (Bruus) yesterday and he mentioned he had a wedding to attend in Yamba next weekend. So you won't have as far to travel if you organise it in a hurry. :egrin:

Apparently the BFS handles the surf better but the Evo glides better with less hull slap due to the pointier nose. If you don't have big surf to deal with I'd say go the Evo. I'm 185cm and 90kg and the Evo465 fits me well.

Pilot input comes into it to . Get good enough on an Evo you'll match a Bfs in the surf , it's not the wand but the magician that matters

Well I hear there could br a 495 heading towards dennisT in the near future is thst right Jamie   because I would look at the 495 over either of these.

Yeah that's correct mate another couple of weeks . The yak is in mint condition I lift it to the water as I will with the next one so no scuff marks time frame is late march very early April , I'm still gunna be riding a 495 I just love them so much just changing to a Carbon Kevlar model .

Cheers mate
