Malibu Stealth 12

#1 Post by Beerandbiryani » Wed Dec 23, 2015 8:14 am

I'm looking for a first kayak for fishing around Sydney.

Can anyone advise on the comparative speed between a Malibu stealth 12 and either a tarpon 120 or Viking profish? I'm liking the layout of the Malibu but it looks sluggish compared to the others.

Hi , I had a Malibu Stealth 9
It has a simular lay out but a bit shorter . Was very stable but the side hatches leaked .
Tried every thing but could not stop it . Ended selling it and getting a hobie :)

I heard the same thing from someone who had a Malibu Stealth 12. They had a leak in the side hatch and they couldn't stop it. Unconfirmed tho is that the newer models have been fixed and they are now an awesome Kayak.

My stealth was a 2014 model .
Don't know if they repaired it on the 2015 model

the Profish 45 is a very quick and stable Kayak. I have owned Malibu before and they are a good option. It is probably easier to get things to add onto a Viking though as the 45 is made in Australia. Personally, I never had any issues with leaking on a Malibu.
