North coast yak Meet

It was a busy morning at Arrawarra this morning.
A very high tide and lots of weed and boats.
The mad rush launch of the boaties was over at 5.30 so we set off, very little bait schools so out went the dead garfish rigs.
After a few hours of paddling my new stealth fisha and not a touch my hopes were Diminishing.
In the distance I could see two birds feeding so I Dug the paddle in deep and did two loops around a shimmering ball of white bait and just as I was about to pull in the dead baits to try a metal slug one was grabbed and screamed off in no time it had 100 m of line on me.
After a few more runs I had a nice Spanish on the gaff and in the hatch WOOHOO nice to get some blood on the new yak.
Happy with the one Spanish I call the crew to tell them I was heading in and would start cooking the barbie in 2hours.
We had a great turn out and a good chin wag and feed. Thanks all for turning up.
I'll organised another barbie meet next month.

I am so glad I decided to come along for my first time offshore in a kayak. I'm in the steep part of the learning curve now for sure. A great crew of blokes who freely shared so many good tips and useful advice. I'm in a bit of information overload mode now but most of it should stick.

Thanks Pavo for making it happen, I'm glad you blooded your new stealth. Thanks to everyone I spoke to for all the tips. Thanks to Green Current for giving me your spottie to take home, Mrs Haka is stoked!
Cheers, Mike.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the size of the fish I catch.

fishing mates won't believe me anyway.

Wish I had come down a little earlier, still good to meet a few more offshore yakkers. Well done on some nice fish as well. Maybe next time Woopi lake breaks open I may just venture offshore. Not too far though.

Thanks Pavo for the organizing and the wonderful 'snags'

Welldone to all who caught fish and to all that just showed up . Conditions where good .

My tale of woe ; one garfish with the middle missing ( how , seriously - how ) . The other rig had been bitten in half during a 0.5 sec line pull .
Then I got stuck into a cobia that when it rolled over turned out to be a big Remora . That only left one question - what did it come off ?

Thanks again
