I used to walk there from behind the Fisheries Research Station at Deception Bay on a falling tide.

i still do :D
i've got it pretty much sussed now, 3.5hrs before low tide start walking and watch for the stingers

as for jack spots in Cabooolture river, King john creek is full of them, i've seen a few over 3kg come out of there this season, The holes after montys marina also hold nice jacks, one of my mates caught a 64cm jack out of there at the start of the season this year on a livie. Burpengary creek holds jacks too, if you launch from the boat ramp at dbay and flick hbs or livies at the snags on the way up you'll get one or two.
I should also mention, you should only go down burpengary creek in a stinkboat if it is a high tide, the middle and upper reaches can be a plick to navigate at low tide if you dont know your way and the sandbanks seem to be constantly changing.

No worries Biggles , I'm pretty keen to go back to caboolture for a look around when the salt level has picked up.

Jamie

Ask the lazy bugger to show you his favourite jack spot close to there, he got 2 stonkers a couple of years back about 3 paddle strokes from his launch point.

As has been mentioned already, Caboolture River holds some nice Jacks, big lizards, bream and whiting etc.. it also fishes very well for Jew through the winter months and catches of 20 or more in a session are common, mostly soapies/schoolies but a few larger/legal+ ones mixed in but all good fun no matter what size they are, been a number of good size barra pulled out of there over the years too. In the upper reaches and freshwater sections you can get good catches of bass and Mary river cod. It's not the easiest place to fish though and you need to put allot of time on the water and suffer many donuts to work it out but it's worth it.

Cheers,
Al

More importantly there aren't as many jet skiers there as opposed to other systems.

Funny how different people see different things. All I saw was that Brett loves a good jett ski

Sounds like the next spot for a BKF Club outing. This chill should bring on the big bream :gu:

Thats the best Idea I've heard ever. I'm keen to become a constructive member of the club, but theres very litte regular events happening there and thats said as a " Lets get this thing going it could be so much more " statement not an attack. And the Caboolture river would be an unreal place to start beefing up the activity.

Bring it on.

It did. The Pine exploded this morning. If I didn't have other things to do today I'd still be there reeling them in. Rain hail or shine I'll be heading back tomorrow.
