Some Bass Before the Wind Picked Up - St Clair 14/01/2018

Hit St Clair early this morning, trying to beat the wind.
Was a little blowy when I got there, but was able to find a spot out of the wind to throw some surface lures.
Had about half a dozen hits, but only managed to hook 2. One on a Jackall Micro Tappy, and the other on a Pompadour Micro.
It's been a long time since I've managed to get some bass on surface, so was pretty happy. Such an exciting way to fish.

With the wind increasing, I opted to go for a troll with deep divers, and picked up quite a few fish.

Threw a jig on towards the end, as I had yet to catch anything on them, but thought I'd give them another go.
After about half a dozen casts, I pulled up tight on a nice little bass.
Happy to get one on the board with the jig, and will keep persevering with them.

By about 9am, the wind was feral, and the Lake was covered in white caps, so called it a morning.

Ended up with about a dozen fish...

The jig was a Pros Factory Equip Hybrid in 3/8oz... i think its colour 101 from memory.
Predominantly black with a green fleck.

I had a trimmed down Zman Hawgz in California Claw colour on as a trailer.

I've struggled in the past with them, as they were a little heavy for most of my outfits.
I picked up a 3-6kg 7' rod, and a 3000 sized reel especially for throwing them.
Was fishing it slow with tiny hops (only barely moving it) down a steepish bank.

The shape of the head, and the buoyancy of the zman makes it sit up with the 'feelers' wafting around.
