Windermere Dam 2018

#1 Post by westie » Tue Sep 25, 2018 6:26 pm

Spent a few days out at Windermere Dam near Mudgee with Kiwinaus & Fletch last week.Great Place to fish & camp & enjoyed.
With water level down to 40%, it made it hard to figure out from previous trips. The weather was great for the whole time we were there except for a windy arvo setting up the camp.
Anyway finding fish was easy as the water was crystal clear however this made the fish reluctant to commit to any lures.
Everyone managed to get there share of yellowbelly but had to put in the hours.heres a few photos & Videos of my trip. Can't wait to get back there again.

Mate, great to catch up again. I'll post some photos later. The fish turned it on after you left but I still couldn't manage the big ones that we know live there.

I arrived at Windamere on Wedensday after fishing Lake Glenbawn and Lake St Clair in the Hunter. I always look forward to "Windy" each year as the yellas are big and often plentiful. This year we experienced clear water - 3m+ visability - and could see how many Goldens there are in a given area... And some are XOS!. At times I walked the bank casting soft plastics at many Yellowbelly between 50 & 60cm but only managed a small one of around 43cm.... fun fishing.
This year an unexpected suprise of the AYC being held on "our" weekend after they had to move the venue made for bigger crowds and lots of fast boats sharing the best banks. In the end I was suprised that the fishing was still as good as before they arrived. Had a ball as usual and caught good numbers of yellowbelly in the smaller sizes. I also caught a "Carp" even though I am told they do not exist in Windamere. Sorry for the quality of the photos.
Already planning next years trip.

Long time member but coming back to yak fishing after a few years of Uni and work taking my priorities.

Off to Cudgegong Water park for the long weekend for my first yak fish in over 2 years. Looking forward to it.
