got two, lost two - one spat the hook, and the other felt considerably bigger and cut me off on the bottom.. they all hit on the light rod of course

Off Wollongong yesterday morning. Local ski paddlers said there was a lot of surface action a couple of kms out between Towaradgi and Flagstaff Points off Wollongong. One in the know said they looked like Kingies hitting a huge school of bait fish. So, off I go in my Stealth Fisha 500. Half an hour later and a few km out I hit the area where they were feeding. Surface was erupting all around me, seagulls, even pelicans were into it. Then I noticed the grey suits. Of the several I saw gliding under and next to me, all were getting up towards the length of the Fisha (perhaps water distortion made them look bigger? lol!). Two largish hammerheads put an end to my aspirations of catching a couple of Kings... I was out of there! :lek:

Amazing how unstable a wide, sea-worthy and virtually unsinkable fibreglass fishing ski/yak feels when you are a few kms out all by yourself with several noah's arks in the area. Furthermore, really surprised at the turn of speed a Fisha has when you put your body and mind into it.

In all honesty they're probably just focused on the bait fish, though I wouldn't feel comfortable seeing anything that big either (Or being more than a couple of hundred metres offshore generally). I saw a 4 foot shark chasing bait off currarong sat, would have paddled over for a closer look but I had a live bait out and didn't want it to get sharked.
