First yak salmon

52cm.. He took a slab of tailor meant for a Jew or Kingfish.. On 40lb so not much fight but did get airborne a few times.

Nice one mate. Congrats on ticking off another species.

Have caught a few, but a few months back I had one grab a blade while breaming on 4lb line on a 1-3kg noodle. Took 45 minutes to land.. couldn't turn its head.

Another species ticked off CR, as you said much better sport on light tackle but if you're in a kingy spot you just can't take the risk. Some salmon go aerial, others slug it out down deep - I've had them picked for snapper at times.

Cool fish! We don't see them up this way too often but from what I have seen and read they are good fun to catch.
Fresh is best, but I don't mind some salt every now and then!
