Shoalhaven river jew

#1 Post by itchyfingaz » Thu Jul 13, 2017 2:28 pm

Ive recently moved into town so my focus towards getting into sum jews in the river,so ive recently put in sum hrs chasing livebait here n there to fail miserably on two occasions so,i rigged a set up to cart livies in the car for traveling etc to n from home...so i went out in jervis bay collected sum yakkas with my son in the kayak, got about 3 small sized yakkas n went home around lunchtime back into town n plugged in the bait tank to keep them alive for my night session headed out bout 8 to greenwell point unloaded bridled livies and heade out to the spot were i was told a few had been caught at recently ,i havent been in river at this location before and at night for the first time it was definitely harder to get ones bearings, but i have chartplotter on sounder so i worked it out,...on the slack tide, one of my live baits was hit hard, few minutes later a jewfish of about 1-1.2metres was in the yak, pulled in gear and headed home to fillet my first jewie!...im definitely keen to get sum bigger livies as ino sum way bigger speciesisms haunt these spots

Very nice fish, well done! And as arpie said, great effort landing that at night! I'm sure you'll get plenty of feeds out of it.

Nice fish Itchy.
If it helps, you can always catch yakkas from the Greenwell Point trawler wharf after dark.
