caught a few of these at the port of brisbane boat ramp was pretty confused.

I've caught something very similar whilst prawning in Tuggerah Lake, which is of course salt water. They were described by the locals as killer prawns, but I can't find any reference to them anywhere.

Most Machrobrachium can also be found in estuarine areas despite the common name of freshwater prawn.

I have caught those at Jospeh Brady part at Ipswich while after prawns with a cast net
Wild Bass 35cm Flathead 54cm
Impoundment Bass 45cm Giant Trevally 38cm
Yellowbelly 45cm
Murray Cod 58cm
Redfin Perch 43cm
