Ziplock Boom's are the world's most advanced fishing boom - simple to use, yet devastatingly effective. There unique design allows you to fish a flowing trace of any length, presenting your bait or lure in a way never before thought possible, allowing it to move freely and naturally with the tide and current - irresistible to all predatory fish. Automatically collapsing down when the fish is hooked, the boom reduces the trace length and allows easy landing of your catch.
Ziplock Boom's also allow you to adjust your trace length in seconds to suit ever changing tides and conditions - keeping you one step ahead of the fish, and making cutting and re-tieing hook lengths a thing of the past!
The Whisker Booms come in 3 sizes being 150mm, 230mm and 300mm long. There are 2 booms per pack.
How To Use Your ZIPLOCK Whisker Boom
The 230mm ZipLock Whisker Boom is ideal for medium depth wreck and reef fishing using long flowing traces with natural or artificial baits.
The boom is designed to pull apart, to allow easy rigging up. Always ensure the Boom is pushed back together securely before commencing fishing.
Thread the boom onto your line slide on the buffer bead and tie on a swivel. Attach a 1-1.5mtrs length of mono then attach the hook. The boom can now be slid along the main line to give you the required trace length. Lock the boom into position by winding your line tightly around the undulated body and fix into the soft rubber cleat in the nose of the boom.
The amount of pull required to release the line from the boom can be varied by adjusting the depth of line engagement in the cleat. Note: This will not damage or kink your line, (see diagram below). When a fish is hooked the boom should automatically disengage and slide down to the swivel. If you need to disengage by hand, simply pull the line in front of the cleat and allow the boom to slide down.
Alternatively disengage your reel and apply the ratchet. Hold the boom in one hand, drop your baited hook or lure from the side of the boat with the other, and pay out the desired length of trace line. Lock the boom into position as explained above.
Always lower slowly to the sea bed for perfect presentation.
Top Tip: To stop damage to the expensive braided lines when wreck fishing, always use a mono leader. This is usually 10mtrs of clear 18kgs nylon to absorb the chafing against the sharp metal. When using your ZipLock Whisker Boom double this length. This now gives you 10mtrs of mono leader and 10mtrs of trace line in one. Use a lighter breaking strain of nylon mono from your main line.
Slide your main line through the Boom and attach a leader to your main line ,then attach the lure.
Feed out the desired length of line, lock your main line into the rubber cleat at the end of the Boom and lower the Boom and lure to the required depth.
The Booms make for an inexpensive downrigger. When a fish is hooked the boom will unclip and slide down to the swivel or stopper knot.
When using the Boom for live/dead baiting under a balloon the depth of the bait can be changed instantaneously. When a fish is hooked up the Boom will unclip and slide along the main line.
Due to the Booms unique design, when reef fishing the bait can be presented into areas where normal fishing methods would not work. The bait also has a more natural presentation.
When wreck fishing with the Booms you don`t have to worry about your sinker entangling in the wreck and losing all your gear.
Fishing into a snag using the boom allows for stealthy bait presentation.
To fish into pylons feed out desired length of line lock this into the end of the Boom and lower down through the water column.
When fishing from a bridge the depth and distance to the bait can be changed at any time.
