Float tubes ?

Any fly fisho's here ever use a float tube [belly boat] in the fresh water for fly fishing

Yep! :wink: Still got it too!! I bought it n NZ for use in trout lakes and VERY slow moving rivers. THey are NOT to be used in tidal rivers or any where there is a strong current, whether caused by wind or tide.

They are quite different from both yak or canoe and totally different from boats!! In NZ I wore waders and special flippers that fitted to the boots. FLippers are a must, as it is the only form of propulsion!!

Over here you could just wear waterproof trousers and flippers.

As I say, quite fun in the right spots!! Good for bass too ..... Just inflate in on the waterside :gu: Good for hiking in to normally inaccessible spots.

I remember FlyLife magazine did an article on using tubes, I think it may have even been in NZ as arpie said. They definitely look like a unique and fun way to fish. It'd be great to hit reverse with the flippers when wrestling a fish out of timber!

Thanks mate yes im excited, the tubes are cheap as chips and you can carry them on your back for those hard to get at spots when on the road
