Sunset Session

#1 Post by windy_kid » Tue Jul 25, 2017 9:55 am

Got a quick fly session yesterday on the paddleboard (does that still count?). So stoked to be catching fish more consistently with the fly rod and with flys that I have tied. This one was a supposed to be a squid pattern which I sort of made up as I was tying it.

I got another on after this but he wasn't as big, still a lot of fun.

That is awesome!
I have never paddle boarded before, as I've never seen the point of it..
But fishing off it! .. well that's a different story .... awesome. And with fly gear!
I would have been in the drink for sure!

I think you've also just inspired me to go get a chest mount for my Garmin Virb XE.

*** EDIT: Chest Mount Purchased, hope it arrives for the weekend !! ***

Cheers,
PF

Paddle boarding does have it's advantages. You can see a lot further in the water and it is a great platform for being stealthy. This spot was only about 1.5m deep so the fish spook easily.

The board is nice and wide so it's fairly stable but you do have to mindful to keep your balance. I love it for fly fishing because it's a flat surface and there is nothing to catch my line.

The chest mount is great, it does a good job of capturing all the action.

Well done!! I reckon I'd fall off more often than being still standing up on a Paddle Board!

Great Job
