POTM - just for the bottom of the page ?

#1 Post by yaqdoq » Mon Oct 12, 2015 2:32 pm

Hi mods ,
I miss some of the quality photos so many yakkers take .
Forget about a prize but what about just submitting for the hell of it ?
Keeps the lens sharp and the eye keen . No words just a photo !
No rules other than a yak in the photo . The mods choose a stand out photo the mods want on their cover page ( nobody is hard done by as there is no reward) .

Just an idea .

I agree

I loved to look at everyones photos of the POTM

No comp just photos with a yak in it or something that captures the true essence of yak fishing

Cheers

Not a bad idea but I would go one step, further and get some to coordinate the competition. It could run run exactly like it did previously you just need someone to create the thread and start the poll when the submission date is up. Anyone willing to take control and I will pass the I for onto the powers that be! As I haven't been a regular member in a while can someone tell me if you are able to create polls or do you need to be granted special super powers?

Cheers

I recommend keeping it simple .
No poll .
Let a small crew ( even one ?! ) choose the photo that they feel best represents yak fishing / Kfdu .
Let one or a couple of mods call each other and say "photo # 13 does it for me !? - jay or nay "
If it is their or their buddies photo - so what . Let's get some feeling out of a 2D image . :ht:

Since there are no prizes etc - any clear photo will do as long as its real ! Just because the photo has had all the 'flash' treatment does not mean it will be selected as the photo that best evokes an emotion .
Special catches (not necessarily big ones), Special Moments or just great photos will have best chance . I have learnt over the years some tricks by looking at other people's photos by 'looking ' through their eyes and as a result , I believe , Taking better photos myself .
This will also promote trip reports .

If you would like a solo judge or a judge panel member : I will volunteer . :egrin:

Happy to put my hand up to look after this also if required.
I've seen some fantastic pics over the years on this forum, shame not to see them shared with a bit more prominence sometimes.
All the best, Rob..:bye:

What if last months winner determines the next months winner? Keeps things moving and fresh?
