First time looking at the thread and can't believe I missed it! :grr: These photo's are terrific. If only brisbane had scenic places like these that aren't jam packed with people! Definately looking forward to kayak camping when the new boat arrives, can anybody recommend any river systems to kayak camp that are within 3 or so hrs from brissy? (Planning on doing noosa river once i know what i'm doing)

Anyone keen to share the yak camping pics from over the Easter holiday period or before? Like others, am keen to see some more setups, and places people go. Creeks, rivers, dams, lakes, ocean. All is good to look at.

Cheers and tight lines,
Ian

Nice,

I have the Deep Jungle - similar but with the double layer bottom.

Up here in the north camping hammocks are the only way I can tolerate camping in summer. So much cooler to sleep in than any tent. In winter, add some under insulation and plenty warm as well (though I prefer a good tent in Tassie and NZ).

It is also really cool the places you can camp - over scrub, big boulders, over water, on the side of steep hills. Just need two trees and good to go

The best kayak camping trip I have been on was organized by Indiedog [Brad] a couple of years ago. We paddled from Paradise Point to Raby Bay over a four day period fishing as we went. We camped on South Stradbroke the first night, North Stradbroke the second night and Peel Island the third night. We carried everything with us, even firewood! There are too many stories to retell here, but suffice to say I will never forget it! Here's a few photos . Jim.

My typical kayak camp. Pretty basic. Boat was under the fly on that occasion so I could stay in bed and cook brekky as it was pouring rain.

Mine's a mosquito jungle hammock - 3 layer as well. It's seen some work and is still like new.

I'll take the hammock over my tent and sim mat every time.
