Apologies mate that's the only pic I have, but happy to take one with it on tomorrow.

It is a Yoke style PFD with webbing around the back and sides.

Anyone using a Crewsaver Crewfit 190N Inflatable PFD? This one comes with thigh straps.

I was watching a fishing show the other day and the host was wearing one.
Personally I think there to time consuming, remove pfd from bag, put on (on kayak or in water) and inflate, if you havn't already drowned.
Your better off with a horseshoe type pfd if you want a minimalist approach to safety.

Just my 2 cents

I sincerely hope not! I am having trouble thinking of ANY advantage of a belt-type inflatable PFD over the horseshoe type. To use one of these (presumably after you have hit the drink), you have to release it from the belt, place it around your collar, and then inflate the bladder. Sounds just the ticket for that pannicky moment when your trip has turned to custard.

Hey guys, thought I would revive this post and see what has changed in the world of PFD's.

Mine floated away in Noosa River after I learned not to fight the tide all the way back from the reef.
No water left in the river, tide ripping past making progress really painful!
2 hours later I had to take pfd off cause I was knackered and needed air!

So I am up for another one, any NEW suggestions.

I was considering the ULTRA Sportfish but havent tried it yet.
Anyone use these? I am in a Hobie Revo.

Mouse which PFD did you go with?

Hi Spla$hed,
Actually I've stuck with my old faithful Hobie inflatable lifejacket, after all the searching I couldn't decide on a replacement.
The Hobie jacket has numerous pockets, comfortable and light weight.
I may upgrade soon for the bass season, probably go for a Calcutta MTI.

Thanks Mouse, I am going to give the Bass a nudge for the first time this season. Any excuse for new gear and no salt water to worry about afterwards. Sounds good.

I just updated my PFD and got a Life Jacket instead.

Didn't even need to go to the shops.

Hello guys, I'm new here.

I just bought an hobie outback 2nd hand, the old model. I'm looking for a PFD..... Iwas thinking an MTI Calcutta, I found it for 105$ in ebay, not a bad price I think. I red all the trend and looks a good PFD..... just, I'm going to try the ocean and I don't think about fresh water.
What do you think? good chose?
(I'm writing and in the tv shows a fight between a kayaker and an hammer shark..... )

Welcome to KFDU Mamalox,

The MTI Calcutta is a great life jacket and prefered with alot of freshwater fisho's. When it comes to ocean I believe the Ultra range maybe worth looking at (I'm a fresh man myself).
Just remember, some expensive popular brands don't meet the Australian Standard and in some states you will be fined if caught with one on.

Enjoy your new ride and stay safe.
