If you have flotation devices wedged in place rather than free floating then you have the added advantage of baffliing and water that might be slopping about inside. It is water slopping about that creates instability. o it may increase thae margin before you can stay on board.

I also used them to close off a mid section of the hul below central hatches so i can put stuff in the hull that wont slide out of reach
