Or you could just try a purpose built one that cost $24.95, I have one of these and it works a treat.

I bought a sea anchor for about $20 from my local fishing tackle shop. Bit of rope, a large plastic sauce constainer and a piece of elastic rope at the end and tied to the yak works a treat. All I need now is to make up an anchor rope.
