Bass stocking in Mullet creek(Illawarra)

Postby marty7767 » Tue Nov 28, 2017 10:30 am

Members,

Does anyone know if there are Bass in the upper Mullet creek area near Dapto High School, which is where I work.
As locals know it feeds into Lake Illawarra, & it also holds a bass population further downstream near the golf course.
The project we are thinking of is to initiate a re-stocking program near our school.

Any input or feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers Marty

Hi Marty,

Can't answer your question of how far up the bass travel (is there anything preventing upstream migration, weirs, low water levels etc) but just thought I'd send a link to Department of Primary industries who manage fish stocking:

Muzza,

The water is flowing well all way from Cleveland Rd down to lake & is able to accommodate fish migrating probably beyond this point. We're pursuing the DPI procedures, but know that "boots on the ground" info from KFDU members is credential for us to make a decision to pursue this activity.
