Fish finder/plotter for Hobie Outback

Looking at the Lowrance Elite 5 DSI or HDS 5, for fishing in the dams, rivers and estuarys are these units an
over kill ?
Any advice appreciated

I got the hds 5 on my out back and i love it

The HDS is digital so you don't get the "tick, tick, tick" of other sounders. Seems to make a difference to some fish.

Are you talking about the tick tick tick from the tranny or from the unit cos my transducer doeas tick and its rather annoying at times haha

From the transducer, if it was the unit itself I'd throw it overboard before it blows up !
