Postby Hyphenjr » Thu Nov 17, 2011 7:04 pm

Hi All

Lowrance have just released their new range of Elite4 Sounders.
These are design and built with Kayaks and small vessels in mind.
Best of all- they are priced exceptionally well.

LED backlight to reduce power consumption, Scroll back to enable a longer sonar history, user friendly mounts as well as flush mount.

These are due to hit the country early January.
Please feel free to contact myself for any further details or contacts to your closest dealer!

Being Fedexed out of Ensenada as we speak Slim.

Your dealer should have them by next week, assuming they have an order with us.

If only i could claim that one slim! I have been pushing them hard for the NSW guys however.

Hi Sicklids, These are unconfirmed but going to be close to the mark $259 for the Colour sounder $299 for the DSI. And the combos will be about $400 for gps/sounder and DSI/gps.

G'day,

Interested in knowing how I can compare any of the units in this Elite range with the unit I see in the Hobie catalogue, black and white, the X-4 Pro. I am new to sounders and need advice on the use of these tools. Some swear that they increase their fishing success... others I hear say not.

I was thinking of the X-4 Pro. Is there something comparable and better and in colour in the Elite range? Is this an advantage?

Thanks,

jmc

Hi JMC

If you give me the heads up on physically where in WA you are i might be bale to put you in contact with some that has both you can see side by side, which is by far the easiest way to make up your mind.

As to whether colour vs black and white will help your fishing, it all depends on how you are planing on using it.
For instance if you are only fishing shallow flats etc and just looking for depth, drop offs etc the monochrome sounders are fantastic value for money. Also if you are familiar with sonar Monochrome will suit
However if you also like to fish deeper schooled fish, deeper structure or a novice with sonar the colour def helps determine what you are looking at due to greater levels of sensitivity and contrast etc. Being colour they are also far easier to see in direct sunlight!
And on top of that the detail of the image in the DSI versions take out alot of the guess work even further that you can even see what type of weed it is below you!

Hey Hyphenjr,

Was just wondering if you can suggest a local dealer around the ipswich/brisbane area?
And any idea when they might start stocking them?
I have asked at the local BCF about these sounders and they have no idea about them.

Thanks, Trent

Hey Trent
Not 100% on the local delaers up that way as im NSW and the QLD still on holidays.
Otherwise try Bias Boating as they will have them in stock as soon as we do.

Been using one over the holidays and happy to report its a lot bang for your buck and definetly perfectly suited to kyaks etc.
Get 3 days out of the 9amp battery. I do turn it off when fishing shallow water, also helps battery last longer.

G'day hyphenjr

I am also very interested in one of these units (DSI version). I know Hobie have a screw in bung mount for the tranny that would probably be good for this unit as they are Lowrance dealers?
Cheers
