Installing sounder

#1 Post by ccyak93 » Sat Jan 28, 2017 3:32 pm

So I've always wanted to install a fish finder but I am absolutely scared shitless that i might screw it up.
Just wanting some info on best way to install and what your recommendations are for a good low/mid range sounder.
I don't need anything too fancy just would like to see what kind of bottom I'm dealing with and how deep.

Mate do a searchfor sounder install here on the forum, half a million posts with photos. In my opinion go wet mount either over the side or in the hull, no hassles with air bubbles at all that way.
Just my opinion but after doing a few dry mounts and now having my wet wount there is just no question of whether or not the readings are true.
As for sounder look at the garmin striker 4 and Raymarine dragonfly 4 and the variants of both. I've got a dragonfly 4dvs and aside from needing to update the software it is awesome mate. Good luck and as I say do some research on the forum!
