EOI Durras trip 22nd to 29th October 2018

#1 Post by XDCammer » Mon May 14, 2018 10:22 am

Hi guys, I'm looking to do a South Durras trip on the dates mentioned on the subject banner. School hoildays finish on the 15th. I said on the Conjola trip I would try and organise a trip going for the week, and perhaps Balls will come down for the weekend.I realise the Danjera trip is only less than a month from this so, it may be a bit much coming down for a week, perhaps a long weekend.

Looking to camp at Lakesea park (who allow fires) fish the Island, the lake if it's too rough offshore. http://lakesea.com.au

The park is very clean, well run, and the Kangaroos have better manners than the Lake Conjola ones. (these knock on the tent door BEFORE they enter and steal your bread.)

There will be some nice snapper around at that time of the year, and the flatties will be hungry after finishing their spawning.

If someone could put this up on the NSWSCF Facebook site I would appreciate it. (I know I was supposed to join up, I've been slack.)

This is truly a beautiful part of the world, one of my favourites, and the fishing is fantastic.

Offshore launch will be at Murramarang (Wobbygong Bay). This is an easy launch and a safe place to fish around Wasp Island. For those who are a bit more adventurous, Grasshopper Island is a 5km paddle and sits near Depot Beach to the north, we sharn't be going if there is a southerly predicted.

Batemans Bay is only 20km down the highway and the pub "drive through" does sell Tooheys Red in a 30 can block. (Whoo Whoo!)

EOI (expressions of interest) please.

Cheers, BobbyB.

Hi Bobby,
Sounds like a good weekend. Pat and I will be on our big adventure up New England way from late September to early November, so won’t be able to make it. Good luck with the trip it should be a good one.

No worries Michael. Enjoy your trip getting some Bass and Cod mate.

I enjoied your company.

I'll see you and the guys next year at the saltwater trip.

I'm still tossing up on coming to Dangera as well, as it's not too far.

Cheers, Bobby B.

Looks like a nice spot do they allow pigs/fires?

Could be a weekend trip.

Yes mate, piggies welcome.
Fire wood may have to be purchased at the venue.
I think I may bring some under the tarp.

Ok everything is ready. I'm just waiting for a weather report.
I was talking to a mate last week, his brother in law was on a SUP (Stand Up Paddle Board) at Depot Beach and a BIG GW swam underneath him. As you would imagine, he got to the beach quick smart, but, that report was 3 weeks ago, so no biggie for me.

I got a 7 day window so I will be monitoring the weather rather closely, but, at the end of the day, I will be down there at Lakesea Park camping ground. Look for the yellow MSR Zing tarp on the left hand side of the road. I don't carry a mobile (by choice, people keep ringing me) so call the park and ask if Bob is there if you wish to come for a fish around the island.

I've got some new camping kit arriving early this week (yeah Rosco, I know I said, "NO MORE CAMPING GEAR", can't help myself mate), and I'm dying to test it out.

So, three days more of work to do along with some shopping and packing also and I'm there with OZ PIG flaming and something cooking in the camp oven. (probably Bush Sausage Rolls from the All For Adventure Cook Book. Soooooooo Good!)

Great to see the NEW FORUM SITE up and going , many thanks to all concerned, it is really appreciated the work you all do.

I hope my trip reports will do it justice.

I'll write an update closer to embarking.

Would be good to see some other members there, if only for a short time.

Cheers, BobbyB.

All lists made now just shopping and packing. I should be there PM Monday staying a week, so drop in for a fish. The tides are in the morning so it should be ok. (No run no fun). Hopefully a few nice Snapper will be around to bless my lures. If it's too rough I'll be in the lake after Flathead on the Stealth.

So wish I could be there too next weekend but will be too much effort to get my gear from Sydney. Plus the Hobie round at lake Mac following weekend. Enjoy mate!
