Picked up the reel this morning (and being a trusting soul) bought it home. Throw the reel on a rod, set the drag and all is good. Pull the lever to freespool and the drag is still on strike. Nothing has been fixed.
So back to Tackle World and had to pay $15 to get it freighted up to Pure fishing.

Just had a call from Nick (Tackle World) and he took apart the lever drag and the lever shaft (or something) has been sheared off, hence no free spool. He asked if I wanted to return it from the place of purchase and told him no, send it up there for repair (on warranty).

So now it will be a waiting game to see what happens.

"Did not disappoint ! They are a great Reel ... I foresee lots of action on this reel." I hope this is true Dennis.

Well Dennis, we will see.

Thanks Dennis, to tell you the truth, I'm a bit over it. No good worrying about something that hasn't happened yet. I will deal with that when the time comes.
But, I got my new rod today..... and guess what, it isn't broken which is a bit of an upturn from the last purchase (sorry am I being sarcastic?). It's kind of thinner than I thought, however, Penn rates them to 30kg line which is ok for me. The guys even threw in a cloth rod cover which was nice of them.
Oh well, all I need now is a reel to put on it.
So I wait patiently and we will see what unfolds.

Cheers mate, BobbyB.

Well, being retired "again", I finally have some time for pottering around. I'm doing all that stuff which you have been putting off, lawn reseeding, veggie gardening, painting, guttering cleaning, and the like.

As you may know Wetspot Water Sports (Canberra) has closed.

I have been approached to do some more work. I don't know if this will come to pass, however, this is the third time I've tried to retire. I'm not very good at it.

I love to talk to customers on their kayak fishing adventures and will miss their comradire.

On another note, with the new reel and rod (pix coming soon) I'm waiting to set it up (as soon as the reel comes back from Penn's warranty work) and put it to the test with some media on the forum.

I'm not sure if I have bought the right rod, however, I will match it up to the right reel.
We will see.

Damn, getting cold here, 0 deg tonight.

Time to go and light the fire in the shed, (warm up a bit).

Cheers all, BobbyB.

I got the reel back today. The problem was a damaged lever drag component. All good now.

Thanks to Pure Fishing, Bruce Baddeley from Ray and Annes Tackle in Pennington, South Australia , and Nick from Tackle World Canberra.

Set drag, tie FG, Uni, and get into it.

Pix tomorrow.

Time for some dinner now, and a warm fire.

Cheers guys, BobbyB.

Well........ my reel is back and I'm so looking forward to using it. The free spool works like a champion, and the rod perhaps may be a bit too small (I didn't want to go too heavy). I do have a reel that will match it though.
To test it out may be problematic as the "work thing" has come up again. (I told you I was not good at retirement).
I will look at that on Monday and see what deal is on offer. More revealed later.
So as promised .......some pix.
