Shimano Raider YAK Rods

Postby Haynesy » Fri Oct 12, 2012 9:21 am

Does anyone know what these new Ian Miller Rods cost from Shimano? Also has anyone seen any specs with lengths and line/weight classes available?

I actually inquired about a custom Ian Miller Rod and Ian emailed me via facebook mentioning the new yak rods would be around the $150-200 mark.

Have not seen one in the flesh but the 5-10 looks the goods to me. But that's speaking from a Bass fishing view. Lure range 3-12g and 2-4kg is right on the money.

If I was in the market for one I would be looking at one for sure.

They'd want to be running something better than the alconites if they're at a $200 price point.

guides are zirconium and yes they would be good bass rods as the yaks are shorter
anything else you need ifo wise on them just ask as i have the new catalouge in front of me with all the specs guys
and yer i don't rate ian miller as a rod builder any more as most the shimano rods are factory made
and they just put a sticker on it that said designed by ian miller '
its just gorilla marketing ...
cheers

Thanks everyone for the info. Same as you nutterjuck I,d be keen on these rods for bass stuff. Cheers for all the specs mark. Can you recommend some light rods 1-3 kg for $200 budget that can be high sticked next to yak. Much appreciated as googling it is a mine field

I was just about to post a similar thread as I was wondering if they would be a good option for small river/ creek bass fishing. Not sure on the dollars going off the current quality of the raider range.
Cheers

Thanks again for all the feedback. I went for the 5'10" 2-4kg rod. It's Perfect for my needs and paid $115 for it which seems pretty fair for the quality, (in my novice opinion  ). Fitted it out with a Sienna 1000 and all looks good.

My new local - yes......Fergos tackelworld Wollongong. The best stocked tackleshop I've seen in a long while... The rod I bought hadn't even hit the racks. The salesman was about to place them in the rack and I noticed what he had in his hand... priced them at another local for $120 that did not have them in stock.
