Trion rod replacement

Postby clutch » Fri Feb 17, 2017 11:02 pm

Hey folks

Sadly, I broke a Trion 662 2 to 4 kg rod whilst casting. Lure not heavy, so suspect earlier fracture.
Meanwhile, good excuse to replace.
Only 13 rods now.

Had Daiwa 2506, 2004, 2000 reels for bass and light estuary. Now have 2500 for flathead, tailor, salmon and maybe rat kings from kayak.

Any suggestions for a slightly heavier rod?

Budget to $200.

Thanks, Clutch

Looking at a few...

- Shimano Rack Raider 682 2 to 5 kg

Any thoughts. suggestions?

Like cork grips, short butt, Fuji K Guides, 2 piece approx 6'6", say 2 to 5 kg or 3 to 5 kg

Shimano 3 zeros are on clearance for a while now.

I use a trion ii 3-6kg native specialist for the dirty jobs fishing around snags for cod. They are very user friendly and forgiving enough not to rip the hooks out of smaller fish. Heaps of power for medium action. The butt is a bit long but balances well with a 4000 ci4+ and I'm not too worried about abusing it at $180

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have bought a new Trion 2 to 4 kg 662, same model as before. I will use this as my second bass rod. The Gen Black Wicked Weasel 2 piece looks like a good heavier rod and I will wait until they are on special. The other suggestions are still in play meanwhile.
Thanks
