2500 reel required

Postby Chopperdog82 » Wed Sep 20, 2017 10:50 am

My old 2500 certate was involved in an accident yesterday. He didn't make it  So I need a new 2500 size reel for the kayak.

Not interested in spending certate money for inshore anymore. Offshore gear is the new money pit.

More around stradic money. But Shimano seem to have stuffed around with the workhorses! They're all bent and blingy. And magsealed daiwas are out. Had them. Done with that.

What's a credible 2500 now? I'll even take something from another brand

Actually sctatch the query. Daiwa bg looks like it fits the bill. And dinga has it for 169. Plus the rcs knob from the departed certate will probably fit

Am a fan of the biomaster SW 4000 for a smallish workhorse. As far as I can find one of the smallest decently sealed reels on the market.
I use a penn conflict 3000 for snapps though and don't mind it so long as I give it a good service every now and then. If it ever gives up the ghost though I will be giving the Daiwa BGs a strong consideration though.
PBs
I caught a cobia which could eat the rest except for the mackerel which could also probably eat a lot of the things

A lot to like on the BG but I understand it is not well sealed so maybe not a great kayak reel?

Thanks mate. I can't see it being much less sealed than the other reels i use. Unless I'm missing something.

Plus it's a native mariner so no paddle slashes and the reels are in tube holders at about my shoulder height. They don't get spray. Should be fine i think

The bg landed and it's crazy smooth for the price. The t knob is bolted in though. Couldn't replace just the knob.

No biggie for me as I had the whole certate handle available. It's silver, but with the silver rcs knob on the end it all looks ok. If u bought the 2500 and think t knobs were invented by hitler like i do, and u didn't have a broken certate handy, you'd be up for a full rcs handle at the same cost as the reel.

U could buy the 2000, but only 2 kg drag
