I want to test a Viking Profish Reload

#1 Post by Ricarsa » Tue Feb 03, 2015 8:19 pm

Hi All Brisbane Locals

I want to buy a Viking Profish Reload but would like to demo one first.

Unfortunately the shop guys in Chermside only have demos available up in Sunshine Coast which I am not keen for such a long drove from logan.

Would any one in the local area of brisbane be keen to give me a demo of theirs? Eg Jumpinpin, Wynnum/Manly/Wellington Point

A huge ask I know, just prefer to try before I buy.

I have one on the northside, but by the time you get to me you may as well keep going to Kawana. Then after your test you can just pick a colour
Happy to answer questions though if that helps.

I've only got the ProFish 400 Lite, similar but exactly the same. You'll buy the Reload, I can tell you that right now!

Re: I want to test a Viking Profish Reload or 400

Thanks guys,

Yeah I think ive spoken to paddle guy but I was hoping to get more opinion reviews from the likes of you guys not in charge of Profish. I hope you understand Paddleguy

To make it easier, how about I tell you what I want to do, and you guys can tell me how the 400 and Reload Compare. I would also love to know a speed comparison (knots or kph or mph).

I need a kayak that can be:
- FAST
- Used for long distance travel touring (20km return)
- Overnight Camping Trip
- Used for deep water fishing (mostly in Moreton bay)
- Also used for basic fitness (up and down the wynnum manly shore)
- Good against tide.
- Manageable with one person out of water (put on roof rack).

Im 85kg
5'11
Athletic Build (mid 30s)

Either. Having said that the reload is noticeably quicker. I didn't have a gps at the test day but I'd suggest Jason's 25% to be a decent marker. I can dead lift my reload onto the commodore and it's not too bad getting it on the roof of the prado either. I'm 6'4 and nudging 100kg. The solid side handles help alot. The huge front hatch on the reload will be better for camping. The rear well size is the same. The tackle pod is larger on the reload. I thought it was a gimmick making it removable but that's not the case. It's a real asset. I looked long and hard and was originally going to get the 400 but the extra speed and kid pod option put me on the reload.

Big Boots,

A better yak for you would be the Dorado 11 that Nigel has for sale. Glass is much more suited to the long trips you plan, and the centre fish hatch has plenty of room for storage.

Thanks all

Cant wait to try out a Reload.

Not looking for glass or a package deal with bits and pieces included. I have all the kayak fishing gear I need, I just need a new base model kayak to add my gears.

This will be my fourth kayak, but not until I get a test ride down in Brisbane somewhere
