Newport canals

#1 Post by inspiredbyfishing » Tue Feb 17, 2015 6:49 pm

This weekend I plan to fishing the Newport/Scarborough canals on Sunday. On of my friends doesn't want to come because he thinks there is no fish in there, but there is know it, I have caught them on bait, but not lures. I need to get all the tips on fishing this location possible so I can win the bet and prove him wrong. If you have any tips on fishing the canals with lures for bream, cod, flatties and anything else that lives in there.
Thanks, Dom
Also, if you want to tag along, you can, just let me know.

I fished the canals early Sunday morning . There was a lot of surface action but couldn't hook anything on a surface popper .
Did hook up 2 on the small bream on a hard body .
Hope you have more luck than I did
Flathead 86 cm
Saratoga 82cm
Bass 23cm

bah your mate is daft.

caught flatty on plastics grunter whiting bream etc.

use tiny poppers like the duo poco poco with stingers that will get the bream that are fussy.

drop low weighted plastics near the jettys and rock walls this will also claim bream.

may even see you there Dom as its windy evwrywhere else.
