Brisbane Offshore monthly meet up

#1 Post by Jamie D » Mon Feb 08, 2016 6:59 am

Is there any interest out there in a monthly meet of offshore focussed anglers based out of Brisbane , the meet ups don't and more then likely won't be in Brisbane , but for guys from Brissy , some suggested destinations in my mind that are realistic drives from Brisbane would be palm beach , Noosa , Teewah beach ( 4 wheel drive material ) Caloundra and sunny coast are all well doable for day trips as well as fidos in Northern NSW is about 1 hour 15 from Brisbane ( advanced experienced required here in my opinion ) . This is an attempt to fire up some comradeship in Brisbane and the opportunity to learn , build relationships and basically positive stuff .

Feedback ?

I'd be keen as some of those spots should be okay for a newbie glass owner like me and I have the Luxy too.

I would like this a lot. Even if I could only make a couple per year, it would be great motivation to get to the coast.
PBs
I caught a cobia which could eat the rest except for the mackerel which could also probably eat a lot of the things

Good ! Couple keen people , more will express interest I reckon now the thread is up , I learned some good lessons when I was the co-ordinator for the Brisbane club , that'll make streamlining the process of organising outings easier , therefore less hassle and therefore easier to organise regularly . Less is more is a great moto I reckon when it comes to organising anything .

I think I'd actually prefer a native mariner , but yes definitely something pedal powered for estuary and light bay fishing . I'm thinking of trying to start another segment in the clubs section dedicated to offshore rather than resurrecting the Brisbane club . When it became Brisbane and western districts it was a totally different club with a different focus hence my desire to try to kick off a specifically focussed offshore group . If admin won't do so I can always chuck something up in coordinated trips , I'll do what I've always done and make it up as I go along

Sounds good.
Can I suggest trip ratings along the lines of experience level required for certain trips.

This is a excellent idea.

Another suggestion I'll make is we get together somewhere and run a surf clinic day, something where we can run through about navigating the surf zone, reading beaches, etc etc.
There's plenty of blokes on here who can pass their knowledge on and help the new people develop their skill sets, so they feel comfortable in the surf and heading offshore.
It also gives everyone a chance to play around in the surf, and honestly the best way to develop your surf skills is to get out in it and it's also good fun having a surf on the yaks.

That's actually a really good idea Chris . Good things coming already and it's only at the concept stage . I like the vibes
