Chipping Norton Saturday 12th December

Postby VietGod » Mon Dec 14, 2015 4:17 pm

Hi guys, this is my first post here on the Sydney club.

Given the big swells offshore over the weekend I headed to the local Chipping Norton lake for some fun last Sat morning. First to launch at 5am I pretty much had the lake to myself.

Tried various spots for plenty of hits but no hook up, I might need to downsize the plastics?

Anyway around 7am I noticed a whole crew launch together, I counted 4 yaks and having seen their trailers on departure mostly PA's, just wondering if any of you Sydney members were out there on Saturday.

I live 5mins from Chippo so if anyone ever wants to catch up for a fish there please let me know. I don't know much about the lake so some experience and knowledge would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Vu.

Mikeman...plenty of bream, EP, flathead, Jewfish etc...the lake is full of mullet so the jews come in to have a feast.

I launch at the Lansvale boat ramp, plenty of parking for trailers etc.

I'm most likely going to be out there again this Saturday so feel free to join me.

Cheers,
Vu.

Sure catch you then Mike...I tend to only fish Chippo when swells are up, otherwise I hit the open water for some excitement.

Hi guys,

I live not very far from Chipping Norton Lake and have been to the lake a couple of times trolling hard bodies and haven't caught anything.

No surprise as my fishing skills leave a lot to be desired :) so if you guys can offer any advice on what bait to use or which soft plastics or hard bodies etc may help in my quest to catch something.....anything.....(beggars can't be choosers lol) I would very much appreciate it.

Also if any of you are going for a fish and would like some company, I would appreciate if you could please let me know and I would gladly accept the invite if I am free.

Thanks very much.

Cheers

Hey Alan,

I haven't been there in so long but I'm pretty sure some are still getting on to some good bream.

Fish the banks, fallen trees and around the islands. I've had success with zman grubs and powerbait minnows. You wouldn't want to be fishing anything heavier than a 1/20th along the edges. As with hbs, you can try trolling deep chubby or fat dogs in 2-3m.

If you generally have troubles getting on to fish with lures I'm happy to help with what I've found successful. But I'd probably hit somewhere down the georges rather than chippo

Hi Colin,
Thank you very much for your tips on where wh Nat and how. I will give it a go.
I have been to the Georges around East Hills a few time but haven't had much luck at all.
Would you use similar SPs and HBs there too?
Whenever I go I am not very well prepared with which lures to use etc so any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Cheers

I'd probably incorporate other plastics too. The easiest ones and imo the most consistent would be zman grubs and 2 inch shrimp. Fishing very light is the way. Watch line for any movement or ticks with soft plastics is the key.

Just choose either hb or sp to start. Then focus on that and persist
