Expressions re Tweed River MW Outing

Postby Dodge » Sat Jul 29, 2017 10:16 am

Early in the week was on the Tweed River, it was great with river nice and clean, although surprisingly the Chinderah ramp is till clogged with debris from TC Debbie, so we launched at Fingal which was OK.

In the past there have been a couple of GCNR club outings held Chinderah on weekends, but none during the week

Expression of interest question for those members who travel to participate in MID WEEK OUTINGS, particularly those who live in locations north of the Gold Coast.

Would you go that far south when days are longer, perhaps October or November subject to weather and tides, we could also move the snag sizzle to a later time 12-12.30pm

As a time guide, Nerang to the Fingal/Chinderah turnoff took about 40 minutes, traveling south at 9am.

If Tweed is OK for you, please post an opinion here sometime before September.

I could stay at Pottsville that week and be available for that one which would be a short drive for me for a change.I remember we crossed the river from the Fingal side some years back when John (Silver) was the club outing coordinator and I really enjoyed that trip. I think most people caught fish and remember catching three different species myself on lures (Bream, Flathead & Whiting) and that is a rarity for me. Having an outing there may encourage some from further south (Northern Rivers) to participate and then perhaps later head north to a location like Diamond Heads. Regards Bill

Depending on the month and my health I would be interested and John/Dawn are still down there at Chinderah we might be able too temp them out of hiding as well.

From the replies above, seems it is worth having a go Tweed River during the mid week.

Subject to weather and tides, will try a MW trip in October or November as daylight get longer
