Just salt side of the weir on the Ross is a nursery for Jacks. I've pulled a 42 there myself and only one other keeper at 37 but on Sunday with a mate fishing up and down the bank we caught a dozen, all ranging from 25 to 33 cms. So so many there, you just have to put in a bit time to find the big ones. Mate also managed a 50cm barra, his first ever and could not shut him up for the rest of the day.

Cheers. MightyBoosh.

Wow that's great! Is that Aplins weir your talking about there? What were you guys using on all the jacks? I love fishing soft plastics so ill have to give them a go.

Cheers Matt

Yeah it was Aplins. Little live mullet was the go, about 3 to 4 inches was the size we were pulling out of the shallows.

hey matt, unlucky with the Barra-was it in the salt or fresh?- I was thinking of going up to the fresh -upper ross river tomorrow, sometime seeings as how the tides are

not favourable and sea looks like a grey sock.

It was in the fresh, if you launch at loam island and head upstream away from all the ski boats that's where he is. Apart from that hook-up I haven't caught anything great that way though.

Good luck mate

Theres plenty of weed getting around atm. And the milfoil weed is getting to be a right royal pain. Making trolling where you want to, (or should i say used to troll), a bit hard. It is right out from the main weed beds now. And even in big clumps in the middle. Buy the sounder is a big help. I dropped a good barra on Friday mid morn doing a tour up there. Didnt get to see it but it had some poke in it tho.

A couple of meteries caught last weekend. Best on tour so far is this 90cm job.
