Just came back from a full afternoon landbase session at Bushland for the rising tide whiting. So fishing approvals for the next few days all revoked.
At Bushland, we managed to walk to the sand bar but nearly got stuck by the fast rising tide. Next time needs to troll a kayak out just in case.

Any whiting about yet Whisky?

Thought about taking the kids to the beach for a morning fish today - but a bit windy for them.

Whiting was our target fish. The trip was also an investigation on how to catch whiting at Bushland. Preliminary results are:-
- fish during rapid rising tide;
- peeled prawn is as good as frozen sand worm;
- red tube in the leader makes the difference;
- cast to wave break zone, usually 10-30m away from shore;
- keep moving backwards as one can get stuck easily.

Kids will certainly like Bushland. We saw soldier crab, stingray nest, hermit crab, etc.

We got four keepers.

Thanks Whisky,

Going to have to give it a go there or at Cungulla with the kids soon I think.

If anyone's keen to teach this fishing nuff nuff how to fish for whiting so I can teach my (soon to be) 6 year old son ... I'd be hugely grateful!!!

Would be an absolute buzz getting him on to a fish.

Hey LODO - I don't have anything useful to teach but get the occassional whiting.

Wind and tides are a bit wrong this weekend but I am toying with taking mine (5 and 7) to the beach at Lucinda Jetty Sunday morning if you want to join in. A bit of a drive, but nice spot with nice amenities.

Couldn't go on Sunday, Kylie was away in Cairns, and I was picking her up at the airport in the morning.

I do like the Lucinda Jetty, it's a great little spot, and a beautiful drive too. Long enough for the tin lids to pass out on the return trip too :)

I expect any of the fishing around the jetty there ... closer to shore wouuld be great for the little one's. I've caught some big fish off that jetty too, and seen some even bigger fish ... even saw a Marlin jump out of the water about 50 metres out from the Jetty.
